Counter Terrorism Event – Retail Sector
Protect yourself, your staff, your business and your community.
You are invited to attend a Counter Terrorism Event for the Retail sector delivered by the North East Counter Terrorism Unit.
The event is to take place on Tuesday 10th July 2018 at the Hudson Room, City of York Council, West Offices, Station Rise,York, YO1 6GA. Please arrive at 9.00am for a prompt 9.15am start. The event will finish at 1.30pm. Attendance is free of charge.
The event will focus on the elements of Project Argus which is a NaCTSO counter terrorism testing and exercising initiative. The session is designed to enable you to gain a better understanding of the terrorism threat and of some simple security measures that can be taken to help to protect Retail Sector establishments.
Participants from the Retail Sector are asked to consider and discuss their preparedness for a terrorist attack through a series of simulated multi-media scenarios. The aim is to identify measures to help you to prevent, manage and recover from a terrorist incident. It also focusses on your current policies, procedures and practices to identify which are fit for purpose, which may require some modification and those which you may have not considered – but which should perhaps be implemented in order to protect and prepare your infrastructure.
The event will explore what could perhaps take place during a terrorist attack at your place of work. It highlights the importance of being prepared and having the necessary plans in place to help safeguard your staff, the public and assets. All events include a module on the Marauding Firearm or Weapons Attack.
Delegates participating in Project Argus are those involved in the formulation of service policies and procedures. It is therefore recommended that Managers and Department Heads attend the event. It is advised that delegates take notes, in order to capture evidence from the session which can then be used to help inform subsequent action plans for your establishment.
The event is fully interactive and invites extensive audience participation.
We look forward to meeting you.
